Experience and Accomplishments

Master Software, Inc
November 1987 to Present
Founder and Senior Partner of the firm. Consulting assignments include:

  • Formulated methodology combining Rhapsody Medical Format Conversion Engine, Visual Studio 2008, Server Management Studio and Microsoft Team Services into a comprehensive, integrated development system for a department of 8.
  • Formulated new database design and indexing strategies for optimizing database performance and simplifying table structure for medical order and patient data.
  • DBA for Oracle 9 & 10, SQL Server 2000 and 2005 for large Midwestern pathology lab.
  • Project Manager and Lead Architect for a "World Class" Crash Information System for the State of Illinois. Captured and expressed all requirements, architecture, design and planning in Rational Unified Process (RUP) and delivered in that form. Conceived a "Datastack" architecture that provided complete flexibility to add new fields and objects without recoding. A Dynamic Form concept permits fast creation of a form using VB.NET which is stored as a database table that interfaces to datastacks. Developed a "Rules Engine" that supported crash process scheduling, routing, workcenter activity, form editing, quality assessment, correction and data analysis. Designed a transform system that converted datastacks into heirarchal databases in XML Format and flexibly created the operational database "on the fly". Tables, fields, rows and relationships are automatically generated from the datastack architecture for any input data structure. Reconstructed statistical analyses on non-parametric basis to allow smaller samples and time segments with corresponding reduction of variance, permiting more precise and accurate assessment of road improvements and candidates for road improvement. Planned and designed statistics and adaptation of Cephas C Math Library to C#.NET and integrated into datastack architecture. Remapped all current analyses such as High Acclident Location Information System (HALIS) analyses to conform in scope, scaling, and intent to existing methodology with improvements as new system data is collected in accuracy of trends and reduction of variance. Led two senior professionals in a small team project management approach, sucessfully undertaking simultaneous development and integration of elements of form design, data conversion, rules engine, and scheduling system. Created a complete quality system for crash data based on Quality by Attributes and Median Ranks, providing for verification, sampling plans, quality estimation and achievements of planned quality levels using .NET Web Service concepts. Designed complete quality versus work rate analyses showing all employees or elements within a manger's scope on a comparison graph showing typical and atypical quality and performance for each element. Provided means to assess quality, reproducability, reliability, traceability and accuracy of analytical results based on the quality and content of data. Provided data provenance and measurement of suitability for intended analytical purpose. Designed methodology for proving searchable datasets for "ad hoc" inquiry into analytical domain space. Designed integration with eiStream image archiving system. Designed interface to Wireless crash capture system using laptops in police vehicles. Proved all concepts with working software.
